MO-ARK Secretary Angie Oshia has announced Ron Hill is running unopposed for MO-ARK Governor Elect.
Ron Hill is a native of Arkansas born in Beebe. He graduated from Beebe High School. He is a University of Central Arkansas Alum where he played football for State College of Arkansas and is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He joined Kiwanis in Conway in 1995 and was the Faulkner County fair parade Grand Marshall in 2003. He was Kiwanian of the year in 2004 and Faulkner County Man of the year 2016. He is past President, Lt Gov., and Trustee of Region 9. He was elected Governor-Elect for Missouri-Arkansas District in 2018 and served as Governor in 2019-20, a year shortened by Covid.
He had a wild idea of building a sign welcoming people to Conway. The idea grew to incorporate five civic groups. With the help of countless people he oversaw the building of two signs on each end of Conway to greet people as they pass through.
He has worked with Conway’s youth for 51 years coaching both girls and boys in football, basketball, softball, and baseball. He was Arkansas Amateur Baseball Association (AABA) State Commissioner for baseball for 11 years. He has assisted in track meets from 5th grade to the Meet of Champs. As a founding member of Grace Methodist Church; he has taught youth Sunday School for many years.
Gov. John Hoffman appointed him Young Children Priority One chair for Arkansas for 2 Years. He also served as Eliminate chair for Arkansas. He owns Hill Seifert Concrete with his grandson. He got into concrete when he was hired to run a pool company. Later he formed his own company.
Ron is married to Karen, a Special Education teacher, he has two daughters, two step-sons and six grandchildren.
He enjoys playing cards and traveling, but keeping up with the grandkids keeps him busy. His vehicles carry lawn chairs as part of their equipment complement.
He would like each member of every Kiwanis club in the MO-ARK district to invite one person each month to attend their club meetings, and for each club to send a new member to either education day or the District Convention.
Together we can make MOARK the envy of all Kiwanis clubs.
Achieving Club Excellence
KI encourages clubs to use its Achieving Club Excellence Survey to spot areas your club could improve.
The survey is now available as a Word file making it possible to fill out on your computer or device, save, and email to your club survey officer.
The MO-ARK History committee headed by Les Mace announced the new history book at the convention. See the flyer and more info on the history page: https://k14.site.kiwanis.org/district-history/
BJKYK Seeks Board Members
On October 1st each year a few members of the Beatrice Johnson Kiwanis Youth Board complete their term of office. New Kiwanians are invited to serve for two to three years.
The time commitment is about 26-28 hours a YEAR! Some sweat equity might be involved. If you can’t donate labor, you could tell the BJKYK Story to other Kiwanis clubs across Missouri and Arkansas (or other civic, youth groups). The rewards are many; you might even get a s’mores hug from a happy scout!
Please consider making this a commitment for 2023 or even 2024. The Board has set up rolling years of service so that a few new faces are added at beginning of each Kiwanis Fiscal year.
For more information call Sam Taylor, President or Dolores Stamps, Secretary at 479-799-1687 or any other member of the current Board.
Kiwanis has announced a new fellowship for those who donate $2500 to Kiwanis Children’s Fund. Proceeds will go for service to young children rather than Eliminate.
